Marathon Training - Road Racing/Running Volunteer Sign-up

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Sportable's Marathon Training program! Volunteering with this program will involve participating with Sportable athletes, with either a physical disability or visual impairment, as they train for the Richmond 8k, Half or Full Marathon.

 

Volunteer Roles
-Unloading/loading equipment before and after practice
-Assembling equipment, pumping up tires, helping athletes with equipment
-Running/walking alongside an athlete along the loop at Bryan Park

 

Volunteer Training Information: All volunteers who are new to road racing must attend the Mandatory Volunteer Training on Wednesday, August 28th from 6-8pm at the Sportable Office (1365 Overbrook Rd, Richmond, VA 23220). It is suggested that returning volunteers attend as well. This training will include information on adaptive equipment usage and maintenance, disability etiquette, and program guidelines and expectations.

 

Program Information:
Location: Practice #1 is located at Sports Backers Stadium(100 Avenue of Champions, Richmond VA 23230). All remaining practices take place at Bryan Park on the Azaela Loop - 4308 Hermitage Road, Richmond VA 23227.

 

Date/Time: Saturdays, 8am-9:30am, August 31st - November 9th, with the 8k, Half or Full Marathon being Saturday November 16th.
